Fine Art

The University of Central Lancashire is a centre of excellence for the study of art from pre-degree to postgraduate level, with first-rate facilities. These include specialist studios, workshops and the Hanover Project, our gallery space that offers a variety of exhibitions that take place throughout the year by students or invited artists.

Sam Picket – BA (Hons) Fine Art

Our students work in all areas of contemporary art, all with different skill sets, allowing the creativity to expand and grow within the Hanover Building. Former graduates include internationally renowned sculptor Andy Goldsworthy OBE who studied at the then Preston Polytechnic from 1975-78.

Based in the purpose-built studio spaces of the Hanover Building, the fine art degree show involves extensive exhibitions set across three floors showcasing a broad base of traditional and new media including painting, sculpture, print, drawing, artists’ books, sound installation, film and animation. The degree show is the climax of the fine art and drawing and image-making course that attracts many visitors and talent scouts from the creative industries, arts organisations and galleries in the North West and London. Some artworks will be available for purchase.
